The Onset of Summer, The Loss of Loss

Life is so busy lately...Update anyone?

In the last week, I managed to help move in two new additions to our household, my two younger brothers.  Late night Halo rounds, and hot tub confessionals here I come haha.

I went to the movies with some friends, at the Drive-In.  I love that place!  Plus now its official, now my last memory there isn't with Shelby (silver-lining everywhere).

Rushing this week some more, Thursday is with Kappa Sigma, anyone know anything about them?

Managed to catch up with a few more old friends, and realized that we all grow up, and sometimes the pasths we choose are not so simple.  Happiness truly is in the journey, and has nought to do with the destination.  Who are you traveling with?

Nordaggio's is going to bankrupt me.  5.00 Italian Creme Soda's?  Dear Lord...I may have to switch to coffee...

Still trying to figure out where to live in Norman.  Suggestions Please!

And I start my second job today at Fox and Hound.  Yes for those of you who know me, I bit the bullet and am back in the resturant side of things.  Hooray for cranky people haha.

I know, I know.  Nothing thoughtful and inspirational? Wait I got it!

Chinese man say: Don't work out with Evan's (he tends to grunt very loudly) Haha! Love ya man.

Liberty, Patriotism, and a Spanish National Anthem

"With the Manhattan skyline behind them, Tony Sunshine and others sang "Nuestro Himno," which created a public backlash in April and led President Bush to declare "the national anthem ought to be sung in English.""

This is a quote from news.yahoo today.  The story of course, is the continued debate over the illegal Mexican aliens.  Now, I'm afraid that this article may offend some, so please, take this sentence to be my disclaimer.

To be frank, I cannot even understand why our population even has a dissenting view on this issue.  For the politicians, their quibbles are understandable.  They are faced with not only looking to be re-elected, but also with the economics of the issue.  The cost of removing the estimated 15million law-breakers?  Staggering.

So why is it that people as a whole are even considering that to allow lawbreakers into our country should be acceptable?  Please, explain to me what rights they are allowed as criminals?  The answer folks is none.  None is their allotment, and none is their wage.  They are leeches feeding at the teat of American generosity, and they have the audacity to attempt to tell us as Americans what we should do.

Is it not enough that public shcools in the majority of the states are required to educate illegals even after ascertaining that they are in fact illegal?  Right here in Tulsa, OK where I reside, Tulsa Public School's charter requires them to educate illegals, with our tax money!   Furthermore, we have all heard about the debate over Social Security and Medicare, did you know that in some states, such as Arizona and California, illegal's are entitled to Social Security benefits and Medicaid?

Now please, understand this is strictly semantics here.  No bearing is taken into account for need-base, nationality, gender or any other variable.  There is NO shortage of immigrants wanting to come from Mexico legally, so why in the world are we tolerating these illegals?

And please before you believe that I am being too harsh, allow me to pass along some knowledge to you:

“All right, immigration proposals under discussion. Let me add mine to the mix. I want to call this proposal the Limbaugh Laws. …First, if you immigrate to the United States of America, you must speak the native language. You have to be a professional or an investor. [America is] not going to take unskilled workers…There will be no special bilingual programs in the schools, no special ballots for elections, no government business will be conducted in your native language. Foreigners will not have the right to vote…nor will they ever be allowed to hold political office. According to the Limbaugh Laws, if you're in our country, you cannot be a burden to taxpayers. You are not entitled, ever, to welfare, to food stamps, or other government goodies. You can come if you invest here, but it must be an amount equal to 40,000 times the daily minimum wage. If you don't know have that amount of money, you can't come and invest. You have to stay home. If you do come and you want to buy land, okay, but we're going to restrict your options. You will not be allowed to buy waterfront property in the United States. That will be reserved for citizens naturally born in this country.”

“In fact, as a foreigner, you must relinquish individual rights to property… Another thing. You don't have the right to protest when you come here. You're allowed no demonstrations, you cannot wave a foreign flag, no political organizing, no bad-mouthing our president or his policies, or you get sent home. You're a foreigner. You shut your mouth or you get out, and if you come here illegally, you go straight to jail and we're going to hunt you down 'til we find you.”

“I can imagine many of you think that the Limbaugh Laws are pretty harsh. I imagine today some of you probably are going, "Yeah! Yeah!" Well, let me tell you this, folks. Every one of the laws I just mentioned are actual laws of Mexico, today. I just read you Mexican immigration law. That's how the Mexican government handles immigrants to their country.”

How is that as food for thought?  In Oklahoma, we are now required to print Postal Office signs in both English and Spanish now.  Ludicrous!  The same is also being required of Government Courthouses and other governmental buildings.  The printing cost alone of all these updates is set to be in the half-million dollar range.  And yes folks, that comes out of our taxes, need I remind of which our illegals pay not a penny.

So before you believe that we are simply helping our fellow man take these thoughts into consideration.  This issue is black and white.  The grey is just political smoke.

Crazy world, beautiful world, how do you want it to be for your children?

Shalom

Truths Unbeknownst, Ettiquette Forgotten, And Shattered Hearts

Holidays...Why are they called such?  It is an obvious answer: Holiday is derived from Holy Day initially referring to the 12 Holy Days of Christmas in the Christian Religion.  Is there anything truthfully holy about Memorial Day Weekend?

Perhaps.

To understand the meaning of the word 'holy' we are fortunate to have access to Hebrew translations and roots.  The word 'holy is in Hebew "kadosh."

Roughly generalized it is actively being involved in the world, yet, totally unaffected by the world--a bit of a dichotomy to be sure.

All this precursory background is to lend credulence to my next few thoughts:

I am increasingly amazed by the lack of common sense among our generation.  Some will say, "women only want this," and others "I have no idea what a woman wants. No one does!"  And the same is being said of men and children, brothers and cousins, black and white.

There is no way to ever know someone else.  Ever.

You can understand their patterns, emulate their thought processes, and even know their history and still never know a person.  This is the beauty of life: miraculous mystery.  Still there are things that everyone wants, and they usually require sacrifice on behalf of someone.

In our increasingly complex world of contrasting worldviews and political correctness, what could these things possibly be?  Simple.  And I refuse to cheapen them with heavy-hatted words, so I must lay to rest grace and speak with brevity alone.

Should you wish to have a ladies or guys night out, and you are in a relationship, make sure the other half is comfortable with it.  And should the significant other call, and wish to spend time with you, if at all possible cancel the night out and make time for them!

Do no go to a party without your partner unless they are aware, comfortable, and secure.  Beware: people lie and assure you of their comfort in an attempt to not show you you are hurting them.  Usually, don't go without them to a party.

Ladies, if a guy pokes, tickles, annoys, licks, nibbles, pinches, prods, or attempts any other childish gesture of playfullness, DO NOT get frustrated.  Understand that it is a gesture of affection!  Men never completely left the playground.

Guys,  ladies do not need your advice!  They simply need a sounding wall.  All ladies ask is that you be concerned about their world.  And this means when she speaks to you, be in the room!  Do not let you attention wonder, I guarantee you the game will have a replay on Sportscenter later, and that there is nothing more important.

There is such a thing as too much time together!  Nothing will kill a relationship faster than this.  You are attracted to someone for the person they are inside!  Always continue developing yourself as you were before you met your partner.  No relationship should be without a sense of anticipation of new dicovery.  It is this capacity more than any other that makes generates longevity.

Ladies and Men, it is not acceptable to go on an outing with only one other person save they are of the same gender, unless you knew them before you met the other person.  There are no if, ands, or buts about this one.  Doubt ringing?  Talk with your partner and see what the number one emotion evoked by such a gesture is: jealousy.

Now I know there are more, and I know that some will hold dissenting opinions.  Believe what you will.  And forget what television and hollywood shows.  To make a relationship work requires sacrifice, but not without reward.  There is nothing more valuable than having an embrace to run to.  There is nothing more assuring than the friend that requires no defense.

Be involved in the world, yet, totally unaffected by the world.  Trust me.

Shalom

A Remembrance of Friends, A Kindling of Memories, An Exploration of Moments Forgotten

The evening prevails upon the last daylight glow, and as the sun returns to its nightly berth, so does my mind return to my past.

The requiem proceeds, honoring images long past, and with the onset of a new level of maturity I peruse my mementos...

Mankind is not predisposed to compassion in its infancy; children do not tread often along the paths of kindness.  Rather, to know compassion, you must first know sorrow and loss.  Could it not likewise be said of friendships?

Growing up we all are shells waiting to be filled with the essences of who we will be, and as some are childish, self-concious, overweight, timid, or arrogant, other can be honest, sincere, loyal, and even caring.  The problem lies in our inexperience.

In the beginning, at our very cores, man is a selfish being.  Martyrs are created not born, and the same is true of compassion.  Children, even as mankind in its infancy, acts upon the behest of self-preservation and even self-advancement.  Show me someone who has nothing in their beginnings, and I will show you an ambitious person.  One who is driven to protect what they have at all times against loss.

Granted, experience tempers the whole ordeal, and nothing is set in stone, as everyone perceives with their own lens.

It takes the familarity of loss, or a security of abundance, to provide the compassion that is one of man's greatest attributes.  And compassion is what has singularly inspired more people than anything save love.

Do you have compassion for those who lives you share?  When was the last time you made a gesture of selflesness to a friend?

For life is not a collection of chances, it is a river that we traverse at our own direction.  We create the moments we will hold most dear, and only personal choice makes life anything other than a masterpiece.

Shalom

A Decision Made, A Decisive Shift, And A World Forever Altered..

I awoke last night around 3am...

The rhythyms of the night, and the tick of the clock sounded deafening, and my mind refused to silence.

The series of memories that refused to cease were moments of sadness.  The twilight and midnight reprieves so often seem to fill our minds with those remembrances then, and we are alone to peruse them.

My thoughts returned to her...

And I wondered: Does she even know how much she hurt me?  Does she even care?

Answers were fleeting, and epiphanies unattainable in that sad hour, and I was left to ponder...

Always consider others before you act, and the action you choose will show you to care.  Sage advice, but how often unfollowed?

Women in this world seem to believe it is so hard to often please men, but it is not.  Circumstances are certainly unique, but men all want to be honored.  Yes, honored.  When your husband or boyfriend steps into your presence, make him feel as though his sacrifices meant something to you.  Whether or not he is a soldier, a lawyer, a doctor, a homemaker, a pastor, or a student, honor his commitment to you and the sacrifice that he has made in order to have time with you.

Treat your partner with the same courtesy you would treat a warrior returning from battle, and show your love and appreciation.  Though times have changed, and battlefields are no longer fields of mortality, men vie each day in their professions to provide for you.  And we yearn for nothing more, than unconditional love shining in the eyes of our wife when we come home.

Do this one thing, and we will listen to you prattle about any little thing you would like for hours.

Remember: Men are warriors by nature, but inside the armor is a child.  We need to be honored.  Do this, and see what love we return.

Ah...Why is it the more words we accrue, and the better the population grasps our langauge, the less men and women seem to come to understanding?
